Winter birdwatching in Athens: Pygmy Cormorants@Schinias!

A Pygmy Cormorant was recorded in Schinias National Park. The bird was seen in a large drainage canal, and it is highly possible that it will overwinter as the area is more than sufficient for its needs. Another interesting record was the flock of Long-tailed Tits moving along a Tamarisk row, close to that same canal. Winter is at the gates and we're looking forward to seeing many more interesting visitors!

Last wintering record of the Pygmy Cormorant in Schinias was in 2011

Long-tailed Tits are very hard to be photographed, as they tend to move all the time!
