Ferruginous Ducks breed at Schinias National Park

S(caps)chinias National Park is the best and most important birdwatching area around Athens. An extensive wetland, surrounded by rocky hills, wineyards, olive and fig orchards make it sheltet than 200 species of birds, both migants and residents.

It consists of the Olympic Rowing Center, surrounded by an extensive reedbed with tamarisks and water ponds

The whole region has unique archeological sites, such as the Tomb of Marathonas,Marathon Archeological area, and much more.
Distant runners from all over the world gather in Marathonas every year for the Athens Authentic Marathon, while the Marathon Run Museum is open all year long.
